Sri Vidya Saraswati Temple is situated on a Hillock in Wargal Village, and stands as one of the important Hindu temples located in Medak district of Telangana, India. There are very few Temples devoted to Goddess Saraswati in the State of Andhrapradesh of India. One among these is the "Wargal Saraswati Temple" which is second situated in Telangana and the first most visited is the Gnana Saraswathi Temple at Basara in Nizamabad district which is around 70kms from Nizamabad and 205Kms from Hyderabad. The other Saraswati temple is situated in Jammu and Kashmir. She was born in Mula Nakshatra and confined to be the prime deity of Education in Hinduism along with Lord Ganesha, also known as Wargal Saraswati. There is a shrine of Lord Shani also situated on the same hillock.

History of the Temple:
This temple is well architected and was constructed in 1989 on the day of Vasantha Panchami when Bhoomi Pooja was performed and the foundation stone was laid for the temple of Sri Vidya Saraswathi Devi situated on a small hill having 100 steps which lead to the darshan of the main diety.
In the year 1992, on the fine day of Trayodashi of Maga Shuddha month the foundation of the Idols of Goddess Sri Vidya Saraswati Devi and Lord Shanishwara were laid by "Pushpagiri Peetadhipathi Sri Sri Sri Vidya Narasimha Bharthi Swamy".
The temple complex was a brain child of "Sri Yamavaram Chandrashekhara Sharma" who constructed this temple with his efforts as he was a true scholar and adherent of Goddess Saraswati. He was also a good astrologer and a vaastu experter. Inspite of being a Business man he had a multi faceted activities into his credit.
In the year 1998, a committee named Satya Patam Seva Samethi, started building of this temple on hillock where it had 400 years old temples also but the Mula Vighrahas lost their look.
In the year 1999, a Vedic Paathshaala (School) was set up by "Sri Shankara Vijaya Saraswati" of Kanchi Peetham. Now this temple is now maintained by the Kanchi Shankar Mutt.

There is a huge Idol of Saraswati near the steps about 10 ft high in front of the temple, which is a magnificent piece of art. The temple board has around 20 rooms for the convenience of pilgrims visiting this temple with some shops that trade in merchandise related to the Goddess Saraswati:(Like Slates, Chalk Pencils, Puja Material, Coconut, Books and some toys for the children who come for Akshara Abhyasam and Some Sarees which can be offered to the diety).

Nowadays there is an elevator available for use by the aged and disabled pilgrims who cannot climb the steps.
Significance of this Temple:
This temple is mainly visited by families for their Children's Akshara Abhyasam ("Learning Ceremony") after which the child is ready to start his education in school, as there is a belief that after Saraswati puja is performed the child attains good Education and Knowledge.
Goddess Saraswati is meant as the Goddess of Arts and Crafts, Speech, Music, Knowledge, Consciousness, of all Vedas and Wisdom. She is seen seated on on White Lotus or White Swan symbolizing knowledge and truth, is the divine consort of Lord Brahma who is seen seated on Pink Lotus, the Creator of the Universe as per the Hindu Religion and regarded as the destroyer of chaos and confusion in ones life. Saraswati Devi is also known as 'Vak Devi' the goddess of speech and sound, the one who revealed the language to the common man.
It is said that one who tries to appease the Goddess with the purest of emotions and true heart, she bestows them with the power to overcome any obstacles in their path, related to ones educational life and career.

The Goddess Sri Vidya Saraswati Devi is seen in full glory decorated with a lot of jewels and garlands and adorned in a beautiful white saree. She is seen seated on white swan having her four hands holding a veena through the strings of which flows all creativity and art form and the book which symbolizes the Vedas is the original source of knowledge, the sphatik mala represents the power of meditation and the pot of sacred water having rejuvenating and purifying powers, with a pleasant smile on her face. Below the feet of the Goddess is present Shri Chakra to which regular Kumkumarchana is performed by the priest and with the request of the devotees who take archana ticket.

Worship to the Diety:
The deity is invoked through the Pancharatra method of poojas everyday which starts with Abhishekam early in the morning at 6:00AM (lasting about 1/2 an hour )after which doing alankara she is allowed to give darshan to pilgrims for about 1 hour called as Abhisheka Darshanam ( 6:30AM-7:30AM ). The doors of the sanctum-sanctorium are opened for darshan amidst the chanting of Vedas and dhupam deep naivedyam. There is Sarvalankritha Darshanam ( 8:30AM-till afternoon) and again in the evening till 7:30PM.

Special features of this temple:
1)There is Special Hall (Aksharabhyasam Hall) at the entrance of the temple where the children's Akshara Abhyasam ("Learning Ceremony") is conducted with the help of the priest by chanting some mantras.
2)The Devotees visiting this temple are provided Free Meals at the temple premises, it is a practice referred to as "Nitya Annadanam" for which they can also donate money of thier wish.
3)The Temple premises has a Veda Paathshaala (a school specializing in the tradition of Vedic recitation) where many students learn Vedas in Sanskrit.
4)The Shrine of Lord Shani is also very important here as several rituals take place here who is one of the nine planets which rules our life. The Idol of Lord Shani measures around 3 feet in high which is one of the biggest statue of the Lord Shani in Andhra Pradesh. The one who intends to perform special pujas such as Shani Pradosham, Shani Tailabhishekam at the time of Shani Trayodashi (the 13th day in a fortnight of Hindu Calendar) which coincides with Saturday, has special pujas performed for which one can give their name and donate the money for the puja. The Abhishekam takes place in their absence also with "Til Oil" ( Gingely Oil )which is offered to the diety and no prasadam will be distributed to the devotees as there is a belief that the prasadam of Lord Shani should not be taken.

Celebration of Festivals at this temple:
Vasantha Panchami and Sharad Navarathri are the two most important festivals which are celebrated at the temple every year in a very grand manner. Special poojas and Archanas are held at the temple during Maha Shivarathri, at the beginning of Vasantha Panchami (15 days before) which lasts for 3 days after the festival.
At the time of Devi Navarathrulu on Mula Nakshatram day ( "It is the birth star of Goddess Saraswati" ) is meant the most auspicious day for worshipping Saraswati Devi and special rituals are performed at various temples to the Goddess. The Navarathri is celebrated for ten days during Dusshera.

How to Reach:
By Road: The road transport is the easiest way to this temple as all the Express Buses moving from Hyderabad to Karminagar have request stoppage at Wargal X-roads which is about 5kms distance to the temple. APSRTC Buses are available every 10 minutes from Jubliee Bus-stand. It is approximately, 55 Kms from Secunderabad Jubilee Bus Station ( JBS ) (journey about 1 hr 15 mins) on the Karimnagar-Siddipet Highway. The journey to this temple would be very pleasant by own car as its route is full of lush green agricultural fields on either side of the road. After passing Mulug village, there is an arch on the left side of the road with Goddess Saraswati seated on it, which leads to the temple. There are plenty of Rented Cars also available to this place around Rs.1200-Rs.1700.
